Strike Force Beaconview was formed in December 2023 to investigate alleged manipulation of yellow cards by players associated with one club.
Investigations revealed that a senior player was taking instructions from a man believed to be offshore in South America to arrange for yellow cards to be received during certain games in exchange for a profit.
The number of yellow cards was allegedly manipulated during two matches played in November and December 2023, NSW Police said.
It was then alleged that unsuccessful attempts were made to control the number of yellow cards during two matches in April and May this year.
Around 6am today, detectives executed a search warrant in South Coogee where they arrested a 33-year-old man.
He is expected to be charged with two counts of engaging in conduct that corrupts the outcome of betting on an event and two counts of facilitating conduct that corrupts the outcome of betting on an event.
At the same time, detectives executed three other search warrants in Parramatta, West Hoxton and Emu Plains.
At the Parramatta address, detectives arrested a 27-year-old man. He is expected to be charged with engaging in conduct that corrupts the outcome of a betting event.
In West Hoxton, detectives arrested a 32-year-old man. He is expected to be charged with engaging in conduct that corrupts the outcome of a betting event.
The investigation continues.
