Brisbane and Adelaide both were left to rue missed crucial game-winning opportunities in the closing stages of their epic AFL i draw
In front of a deafening crowd at Adelaide Oval on Sunday night, both sides squandered huge chances to win the match before the siren sounded at 13.12 (90) each.

Crows captain Jordan Dawson was under immense pressure when his potentially game-winning shot at goal was splashed wide on the right, leveling the scores at 90 apiece.
The Lions then had to go from one end of the field to the other on their kickoff with less than 90 seconds left.
With big man Joe Daniher sitting in the pocket of space at center halfback and Harris Andrews running in to provide help, the Lions looked perfectly poised to take the game-breaking risk of going straight up the middle of the field in a bid to win the game .
But Lions star Dane Zorko made the defensive decision to kick Callum Ah Chee in the pocket, who kicked long towards the boundary line.
The ball eventually went out of bounds as the clock ticked down, making it difficult for either side to win the game.
“I think if Brisbane were to review that game and it was a real ‘win the game’ game, that kick should have gone through the middle,” Jordan Lewis said after the thriller ended.
“Harris Andrews was running there, I think (Oscar) McInerney was there – so all the high timbre they needed was there.
“They (will) learn from it. You hope that if they were at the same time again – the good sides of the competition, who know how to win, who go into scripted things – it would be in the middle of the ground.”
Jack Riewoldt agreed Brisbane had to take the risk to win the game – but it could have cost them a loss.
“At that point, you’re kicking it in a really, really dangerous spot, so there’s a risk of winning the game, but there’s also a risk of losing the game. Are you brave enough at this point to take the risk to win? Because you can lose, he said.
Brisbane had a game-high 18-point lead midway through the final quarter, but after Darcy Fogerty kicked two of his four goals on the night, Adelaide built a six-point lead with about five minutes to go.
The Lions’ Ah Chee equalized with his fourth goal, followed by Harry Sharp from behind to give the visitors a one-point buffer.
But Dawson’s 35-metre strike from the run, which failed to hit the target, ensured the clubs shared the Premiership points.
Both the Crows and Lions have three wins, a draw and five losses to sit 12th and 13th in the table respectively.
Ah Chee’s scoring was key for the Lions, while sophomore Logan Morris kicked two big ones.
Brisbane stalwarts Hugh McCluggage (31 disposals, one goal), Jarrod Berry (30, one goal) and Dane Zorko (26 touches) were the standouts.
Adelaide live Izaak Rankin was superb with three goals and 24 possessions, Fogerty was an attacking force and Taylor Walker and Elliot Himmelberg kicked two goals each.
The Lions outscored their hosts by three points in the first round before the Crows kicked three goals to two in the second for a two-point lead at half-time, 6.9 to 6.7.
on vacation Adelaide replaced defender Daniel Curtinwho endured a terrible second leg against Lions opponents who held him to four goals.
But seven minutes into the third quarter the tactical switch backfired when Curtin’s teammate Josh Worrell suffered a suspected broken left wrist and was ruled out for the rest of the game.
Despite the loss of Worrell, the Crows went on a run of three goals in a row and when Rankine kicked his second big goal the home side had a 12-point lead – their biggest of the game.
With 90 seconds left in the quarter, the Lions scored two valuable goals before Fogerty missed a set shot at the buzzer, leaving his team up by one point at the final change, 9.11 to 9.10.
Brisbane then made a move with Berry, Ah Chee and Josh Dunkley all scoring to create an 18-point breakthrough.
But just when the Crows looked down and out, the hosts kicked four goals in 11 minutes to create a six-point buffer.
Brisbane’s Ah Chee then struck again to equalize with three minutes and 35 seconds remaining before respective late deficits from both clubs sealed the tie.
