Drake has denied allegations of child sex offenses and harboring a secret child, both brought against him by Kendrick Lamar in recent days.
The feud between the rap superstars has escalated over a series of diss tracks over the past few weeks, culminating in a flurry of activity over the weekend with three tracks by Lamar and two by Drake.
Lamar’s most serious accusations come on Not Like Us with the line, “Say Drake, I hear you like them young… Certified lover? Certified pedophiles… Try to strike a chord and it’s probably A minor.’
On Meet the Grahams, addressed to a series of Drake family members, he raps, “A child should never be compromised and they keep their child around them / And we gotta raise our daughters knowing they’re stalking predators like him… I’m looking shoot through every surviving pervert, keep the family safe.”
Later in that song, Lamar addresses an entire verse to an unnamed girl, saying of Drake, “He’s a narcissist, a misogynist, living in his songs / Tryin’ to destroy families instead of taking care of his own / Gotta teach you schedules or watching Frozen with you / Or on your 11th birthday singing nursery rhymes with you … it’s not your fault he’s hiding another child.”
Drake responded directly to the allegations in a new song, The Heart Part 6, the title of which is a reference to Lamar’s string of singles of the same name. “Drake ain’t a name you won’t see on a sex offender list, easy / You mention A minor … si sharp and tell the fans: who was it? … I’ve never been with minors, but now I see why this is the angle you really mess with / Just to be clear, I feel gross, I’m too respectable / If I fucked young girls, I promise I’d be arrested / I’m too known for that nonsense you just suggested”.
He adds, “Only with Whitney, not with the Millie Bobby Browns, I would never look twice at any teenager” — a reference to a friendship with “Stranger Things” actor Millie Bobby Brown. Brown spoke about their friendship in 2018 when she was in her mid-teens, saying Drake was a “great friend and a great role model” who gave her dating advice.
In addition to playing up Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown’s relationship, the line refers to Kendrick Lamar’s longtime partner Whitney Alford, about whom Drake has made a series of his own claims in diss tracks.
Drake also claims that he and his team gave Lamar false information about the alleged secret daughter. “We planned for a week and then we gave you information / Daughter who’s 11, I bet she’ll take it / We thought about giving a fake name or destination / But you’re so thirsty you don’t bother investigating.
Drake previously denied the allegation, saying, “If you or anyone can find proof that I have an 11-year-old daughter, I’m going to stop rapping and come work for you.”
Elsewhere among the many insults and accusations shared in the diss tracks, each rapper attacked the artistry and authenticity of the other. Drake said that Lamar “always rapped like you to free the slaves / You just act like an activist, it’s a hoax,” while Lamar described Drake as “not a mate, you fucking colonizer.”
The feud dates back to the March 22 release of Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” in which guest rapper Lamar boasted of his superiority over Drake — the song reached No. 1 in the US. Drake responded with two songs, Push Ups and Taylor Made Freestyle, the latter of which featured AI versions of 2Pac and Snoop Dogg, prompting a warning of legal action from 2Pac’s estate – Drake subsequently removed the song from social media. After a brief hiatus, Lamar returned with Euphoria, which attacked Drake’s artistry and questioned his ability as a parent. It is currently the third most streamed song globally on Spotify.
