England may ditch rides on ‘turbo’ bikes after Anthony Gordon’s accident | England

England will consider abandoning the cycling the players have been doing as part of their post-match recovery after Anthony Gordon suffered cuts to his chin and arms following an accident.
Gordon, who could start in Sunday’s last 16 match against Slovakia, was the subject of much cheering from the rest of the squad after suffering a heavy fall the day after England’s draw with Slovenia. The winger appeared mostly with his pride hurt, along with a very noticeable scratch on his chin, but there is expected to be a review of whether the team continues to use electric bikes that can reach high speeds.
“I’ve never been on a bike like this,” said Ezri Konsa. “It’s weird – you can pick up some speed with it. It has a turbo button so you press the turbo button and as you pedal it just goes fast. It must have been a bad fall.
“I think he hit the wrong brake because in England the brakes are on different sides, so the left is the rear. I think he hit the left one and it was in front and it just took off. He is well. I think this will be the last time we ride a bike.”
Konsa suggested there would be a bicycle-themed celebration if Gordon scored against Slovakia. The English defender was quickly on the scene after the fall.
“Just a few scrapes and scratches,” Konsa said. “It was funny. I was coming down on my bike and I saw him and I thought, ‘What happened there?’ I saw the scratch on his chin and nose and I burst out laughing.
“Some players were in front and as I was coming down the hill I saw Ant and he was lying there with blood on his face, hands and chin. At least he was wearing his helmet.
Meanwhile, the Football Association has contacted representatives of England players to arrange a proxy or postal vote for their customers for next Thursday’s general election. Players are under no pressure from the FA to vote.
