Former AFL star Sam Fisher jailed for drug trafficking

The charges include trafficking a commercial quantity of methamphetamine, cocaine and 1,4-butanediol and three counts of drug possession.
He had picked up a predator from Harvey Norman in Moorabbin and then delivered it to a Melbourne patisserie owned by his co-accused Julien Morvan’s father with the drugs inside.
Police intercepted the package on April 20 and found two hidden packages of the drugs in the hood.
Fisher spent 48 days in jail after being arrested and was then released on bail to a rehabilitation center where he spent 105 days.
Judge Gerard Mullally found there were “powerful reasons” to give Fisher a lesser sentence because of the lesser role he played in the conspiracy, his significant reformation and his deep remorse.
“You now admit that you were highly addicted and consumed multiple drugs in an uncontrollable manner,” Judge Mullaly said.
“You started moving in circles with others involved in drugs.
“Your chaotic lifestyle came to an abrupt end when you were arrested.”
The judge sentenced him to a maximum prison term of five years and four months.
He must spend at least three years behind bars before becoming eligible for parole.
Fisher could be heard crying as he was led out of the courtroom by detention officers.
