A former Collingwood player has been charged after two people were killed following a crash in Western Australia on Friday morning.
Emergency services were called to the Brand Highway at Coolijarloo near Catby at around 9am following reports of a crash between two cars and a road train pulling two trailers.
Police say 38-year-old Shannon Cox was behind the wheel of a Toyota when it collided with a Suzuki hatchback, killing two women in their 80s.
A 12-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Toyota was also injured.
Cox has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death and remains in custody.
Cox played 25 games for the Magpies before retiring in 2009.
Appearing in court today, Cox did not apply for bail and will remain in custody until his next appearance on June 18.
