Former National Rugby League player Brandon Wakeham is due in court today after he and two other men were charged in connection with an alleged large-scale drug supply.
The 25-year-old, who played for the Bulldogs and Wests Tigers, was detained by police from Strike Force Verbena during a training session at Chester Hill in Western Sydney yesterday.
After searching his car, police seized one kilogram of MDMA, 56g of cocaine and about $50,000 in cash.
Wakeham faces 12 charges including firearms, drug supply and dealing in proceeds of crime.
Another man, 47, was also arrested and after searching a home in Sans Souci in Sydney’s south, officers seized electronics, banned drugs and other items.
Authorities also froze about $10 million in assets linked to him.
He is charged with 10 felonies.
Another 25-year-old man was arrested at a park in Brookvale on the Northern Beaches yesterday and charged with various drug-related offences.
Soon after, in a raid on a flat in Bexley, police seized an encrypted electronic device linked to their investigation.
The three men were refused bail and are due to appear in court today.
Investigations are ongoing.
