‘I got $420,000 back’: Cohen says last check signed by Trump in December 2017
It is now December 2017. Michael Cohen said this was his last invoice in this vein. Why?
I have now been refunded $420,000.
The check he received, also signed by Trump, was the last one he received.
Prosecutor Susan Hoffinger asks:
After the last check was sent to you in December 2017, I think you mentioned, you never received any other checks from Mr. Trump or his trust?
Cohen says, “Exactly.” “Or the Trump Organization?” Cohen replied, “That’s right.”

Cohen says he made false statements to Congress during the Russia investigations
Michael Cohen is now being questioned about his testimony in the Russia investigation.
It was about the Trump Tower Moscow deal and Russian ties to the campaign.
Cohen said he felt “tremendous pressure” testifying to Congress about it. He had a lawyer.
He said the Trump Organization is paying for his lawyer as part of a joint defense agreement.
A joint defense arrangement is when there are several different attorneys representing different people and they all work together for a common goal.
At the time, how – if anything – did he feel about it? Cohens says:
I felt I needed it, it was extremely important to me.
Did you make false statements to Congress in 2017? “I did,” Cohen testified. In general, what are these false statements about?
They were dealing with the Trump Tower real estate project in Moscow, specifically the many times I claimed to have spoken with Mr. Trump…
Why did you make these false statements to Congress?
I rested on Mr. Trump’s message that there is no Russia, Russia, Russia, and again in coordination with the Joint Defense Team, that is preferred.
Cohen says he continued to lie about Trump ‘out of loyalty and to protect him’

Michael Cohen says he continued to lie about Donald Trump after he was president.
Out of loyalty and to continue to protect him.
prosecutor Susan Hoffinger asked Michael Cohen on his comment yesterday that he sees compensation for his work as Donald Trump’s personal lawyer as part of a long game; he knew he wouldn’t get paid for his legal work, but he knew his reputation as Trump’s personal lawyer would eventually pay dividends.
Has this title helped you find other clients? “Yes Madam.”
Was that your plan all along? “Yes.”
In 2017 and 2018, approximately how many customers did you have? Fri.
How much did you make? “Approximately $4 million.”
Michael Cohen said he did more legal work in 2018 than in 2017.
The prosecution asks, “Did you receive anything from Mr. Trump or the Trump Organization?” Cohen says, “No, ma’am.”
Did you figure something out? “No ma’am.”
Cohen says he earned $4 million in consulting he did for five clients in 2017 and 2018. Cohen said he intends to monetize his relationship with Donald Trump in consulting work.
asks prosecutor Susan Hoffinger Michael Cohen if he charged for the work he did Donald Trump and Melania in 2017, Cohen says no.
Did you do legal work for Mr. Trump in 2018? “I did,” Cohen said.
As a result of Stormy Daniels and her election becoming public, Mr. Trump wanted a lawsuit filed, an arbitration action filed against her for breach of nondisclosure agreement, and so I contacted Eric Trump as well as Mr. Trump on how to move forward with this arbitration proceeding.
Cohen said he was working with outside counsel on the matter, but he was working on it.
Prosecutor Susan Hoffinger asks if Michael Cohen do some work for Donald Trump or Melania in 2017. “Minimal,” he said.
Cohen says he estimates he did less than 10 hours of work for Trump, Melania Trump and the Trump Organization in 2017. He says:
It was about a named person Summer Zervos.
He said he gave Trump some documents on the Zervos case, but that Mark Kasowitz was the lead attorney on the matter.
As for Melania, I think it has to do with some trademarks or maybe even Madame Tussauds… I got an agreement that Madame Tussauds sent to her to create her likeness and image for her museum.
Cohen said his work on Zervos was “very minimal.”

“Whose signature is it?” Cohen confirms that Trump signed checks to repay
Prosecutor Susan Hoffinger repeatedly asked Michael Cohen regarding checks to him for such payments; the refrain is practically the same every time and directly points the finger Donald Trump.
She goes one by one. “Do you see whose signature is on the check?” Hofinger asks. “Yes,” says Cohen.
“Whose is it?” she follows him. “Donald Jay Trump,” says Cohen.

The members of the Trump entourage I see— Lara Trump, Byron Donalds, and Eric Trump – they seem to alternate between looking down and then at the fake invoices and checks that appear on the screen.
As well as a former candidate for the presidency of the Republican Party Vivek Ramaswamy, other members of Donald Trump’s inner circle also took to social media today to show their support for the former president.
Corey Mills, the Republican congressman from Florida said he was “honored” to stand with Trump and described the case as a “victimless false accusation” and “political theater and interference.”
Another congressman from Florida, Byron Donalds, said Trump’s case was a “tragedy for the American justice system.” Donalds is believed to be on Trump’s short list of vice presidential candidates.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, said he will give a press conference this morning outside the courthouse.
