Emergency crews were called to a home on Ballater Avenue in Seaton in the west of the city just before 4pm this afternoon.
A specialist children’s ambulance team attended to the girl on the way to the hospital, but were unable to save her.
The Ambulance Service said a child initially reported the incident.
They said they found the five-year-old in cardiac arrest upon arrival.
While the girl was rushed to hospital, police detectives arrived and officers were seen taking a man away from the home.
