King’s Birthday public holiday 2024 trading hours: What’s open and closed for the June long weekend

The June long weekend, better known as the King’s Birthday, is almost here.

King Charles IIIThe actual birthday of the monarch is on November 14, but in many states the monarch’s birthday is celebrated on June 10.

Western Australia and Queensland are the main outliers, celebrating the holiday in September and October, but the rest of the states will have slightly different regulations affecting store opening hours.

Here’s a quick state-by-state guide to the opening hours of Australia’s biggest retailers for the King’s Birthday long weekend.

NSW, ACT, Victoria, Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia and Tasmania: All stores will be open.

South Australia: All stores will be closed.

NSW, ACT, Victoria, Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia and Tasmania: All stores will be open.

South Australia: Most shops will be closed. Victor Harbor, Port Augusta, Renmark, Murray Bridge and Mount Gambier stores will be open.

NSW, ACT, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania: All stores will be open with normal business hours.

South Australia: All stores will be closed except Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Berri, Port Augusta, Mount Barker, Whyalla, Murray Bridge Green, Mount Gambier, Victor Harbor.

NSW, ACT, Victoria, Northern Territory and Tasmania: All stores will operate with reduced hours.

Queensland and Western Australia: All stores will be open.

South Australia: Some stores will be closed including Firle, Tea Tree, Munno Para, Ingle Farm, Kurralta Park, West Lakes, Port Noarlunga, Marlon and Churchill.

NSW, ACT, Victoria, Northern Territory and Tasmania: All stores will operate with slightly reduced opening hours.

Queensland and Washington: All shops are open.

South Australia: Some stores will be closed including Firle, Tea Tree, Munno Para, Ingle Farm, Kurralta Park, West Lakes, Port Noarlunga, Marlon and Churchill.

Bunning stores in every state and territory will open on Monday 10 June.

Reduced trading hours will apply in every state except Western Australia and Queensland, which do not celebrate the King’s birthday in June.

Most Dan Murphy’s stores nationwide will open at 10am and close between 6pm and 7pm.

BWS stores in each state and territory will open between 9am and 10am and close between 6pm and 7pm.

Queensland and Western Australia: All stores will be open during normal business hours.

NSW and ACT: All centers will be open from 10am and will have reduced opening hours.

SA: All Westfield shopping centers will be closed.

Victoria: All Victorian centers will trade from 10am to 5pm.

Stores in South Australia will close, along with a handful of stores in NSW.

Aldi stores will have different opening hours across the country. Prospective shoppers were advised to check the Aldi store for more specific information.
