The couple are on a mini-tour of the country to promote Harry’s Invictus Games, the international sporting event he founded in 2014 to give injured or ill servicemen and veterans a chance to compete, similar to Paralympic Games.

The Los Angeles-based couple is also there to protect the mental health of young people affected by conflict in the region.

“(Meghan) was wearing a necklace that belonged to the late Princess Diana — it was from her personal collection,” Myers said, noting the piece of jewelry.

“No doubt it was bequeathed by Prince Harry at some point in the past and given to Meghan as a gift.”

Markle has previously paid tribute to Princess Diana by wearing pieces from the former Princess of Wales’ collection, including butterfly earrings and an aquamarine ring. People magazine reported.

Myers said it was important the couple continued to present themselves as royalty.

“They’re obviously trying to come across as royal, but not royal, if you will,” Myers said.

“I think they still need relationships to bolster their image, and I think we’ll see a lot more of that in the future from Meghan and Harry because it kind of works for their brand.”

Also during their trip to Nigeria, Meghan revealed that she recently took a genealogy test and discovered that she is 43 percent Nigerian, adding that it was “humbling” to learn about her ancestry.

On the second day of her first visit to Nigeria, Meghan said it was “my country”.

“It was exciting to be able to learn more about my heritage,” Markle said, according to an AAP report.

“Never in a million years would I understand it as much as I do now. And what has been repeated so much in the last day is, “Oh, we’re not that surprised when we found out you’re Nigerian.”

“It’s a compliment because what they define as a Nigerian woman is brave, resilient, brave and beautiful.”
