Murder charge against 12-year-old girl accused of killing woman in Footscray withdrawn

12-year-old girl accused of murdering a woman in Melbourne inner west will no longer face murder charges.
On Thursday, prosecutors asked to drop the charges against the girl, but did not give a reason.
The magistrate withdrew and struck out the charge of murder. She is not facing any other crimes.
The girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was accused of fatally stabbing a 37-year-old woman in Footscray in November.
A psychiatrist assessed the child’s age of criminal responsibility, also known as doli incapax.
