My sister asked me to pay for her wedding because I’m wealthy

A woman is left speechless after her younger sister asks her to pay for her wedding — valued at more than $100,000 — based on the older sibling being “wealthy.”
The siblings’ parents died a few years ago, so “it’s just her and her sister left,” the older woman said in a Reddit post.
She said she did very well financially because of a very high paying job.

And she said her younger sister thinks that means she has to cover the cost of her wedding.
“My sister and her fiance are planning a big, extravagant destination wedding and costs add up to over $100,000,” the older sister said.
She said the couple asked her to “pay for everything” as “she can easily afford it”.
The woman was surprised by the couple’s request, which she refused.
She said she thought it was “completely unreasonable” and was not “comfortable spending that much”.
Instead, she offered the couple $20,000 as a wedding gift.
The bride-to-be was not happy with her older sister refusal to pay or with the $20,000 bid.
She called her sister “selfish” and said she was “ruining her dream wedding”.
She also said her older sister was “obliged as her only family to give her the perfect wedding.”
The bride-to-be now refuses to speak to her sister until the older woman agrees to pay for the wedding.
“I feel I am being fair in offering a generous gift of $20,000, which is more than enough to cover a nice wedding,” said the older sister.
The woman then asked Reddit users for advice, saying: “Am I the a-hole for refusing to fund her $100,000 ‘dream wedding’ just because I’m rich?”
“I love my sister, but I feel like she is Bridezilla and her claim is completely unfounded. I’m looking for some outside perspectives,” the woman said.
Her post garnered tons of comments and people quickly sided with the woman.
“I can’t find the words,” said one.
“Your sister is very right. Your gift is extremely generous. I hope she doesn’t waste her relationship with the family because she wants your money,” added another.
“This is crazy. She can’t expect you to pay this,” said a third.
