Six UK airports temporarily reintroduce 100ml liquid limit | Travel

Six UK regional airports will temporarily re-introduce restrictions on carrying liquids above 100ml, the Department for Transport has announced.
The change will come into effect from midnight on Sunday and will affect passengers traveling from London City, Aberdeen, Newcastle, Leeds Bradford, Southend and Teesside airports.
All airports have Next Generation Security Checkpoints (NGSC) which allowed them to do away with the rule. High-tech CT scanners create a 3D image of what’s in passengers’ bags.
The 100ml rule was introduced in 2006 after a foiled terrorist plot to blow up planes flying from London to the US with homemade liquid bombs.
A DfT spokesman said: “This temporary move is intended to enable further improvements to the new checkpoint systems and will only affect a small number of passengers.
“For most passengers, security measures will remain unchanged.
“Passengers should continue to check the security requirements at the airport of departure before travelling.”
