South Australian father apologetic as he faces Bali drug charges

Troy Smith, from Port Lincoln, was holidaying with his wife Tracey in the tourist hotspot last week when police raided his room at a resort in Legian near Kuta.
He was allegedly caught with methamphetamine.
Troy Smith’s attorney told 9News that he is depressed and stressed about the lengthy potential jail time that awaits him.
“He’s crying, he’s crying. He is a man but he is crying,” said his lawyer in Bali.
“He’s very sorry and he doesn’t mean to do that, he’s sorry.”
Smith was jailed in Bali for 10 days and faces drug possession charges, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison in Indonesia.
He and his wife were arrested after officers found 3.19 grams of methamphetamine in an envelope sent by Cairns.
The envelope was allegedly addressed to Smith, with the sender writing that personal documents, photographs and lubricant were also included.
A bong was also allegedly found in the villa.
His attorney earlier in the week told 9News that Smith admitted to possessing methamphetamine, which was hidden in a toothpaste tube.
His wife was released without charge.
The Australian Government provides consular assistance.
9News contacted Queensland police to see if they were investigating who sent the drugs and if any arrests had been made, but they could not provide an update.
