A man who kidnapped his ex-lover and buried her alive in South Australia Flinders Ranges has its own period without parole extended by more than five years.
Tariqjot Singh was serving a life sentence with a non-parole period of almost 23 years for the March 2021 murder of 21-year-old Jasmine Kaur.
Kaur, an elderly carer and nursing student, was abducted from her workplace, tied up and buried in Moralana Creek near Hawker.

The Director of Public Prosecutions appealed Singh’s non-parole period to the Court of Criminal Appeal, which on Thursday decided to increase it to 28 years and six months.
Singh, 24, will be 49 when he is eligible for parole in September 2049.
Singh pleaded guilty to murder in 2023
High Court judge Adam Kimber said during sentencing that Singh had acted out of a desire to punish Kaur for rejecting him.
Their relationship ended about three months before her death, but Singh refused to accept it was over and continued to contact her and her family, the court was told.
In February of that year he was issued with a police stalking warning.
The judge said he was satisfied the killing was the result of Singh’s desire to punish Kaur for ending their relationship and for going to the police.
Singh had planned the assassination in some detail and was caught on CCTV buying supplies used in the Mile End Bunnings murder in early March 2021.
The 24-year-old was seen calmly entering the store and walking around to find the items he was looking for.
Kaur died when she inhaled the dirt he used to fill the shallow grave.
“I cannot find words to adequately describe how Mrs Kaur must have felt when you placed her in the grave and buried her,” Judge Kimber said.
“What is clear is that the manner in which you chose to kill Ms Kaur was extremely callous.”
