Key events
Oh, Aloe! Hamilton came from 0-1 down to take a 2-1 lead and now away player Morgyn Neal has been sent off for foul and abusive language.
Tough look for Solanke with that disallowed goal, he put on this mask to celebrate. Face palm.
41 minutes: Huge chance for Enciso to double the lead, Welbeck releases Adingra on Brighton’s left. The Ivorian crosses to Enciso, but his header is weak and does not bother Dubravka.
In the Scottish Playoffs, Hamilton leveled the match and the tie against Alloa while Spartan now lead 2-0 at Peterhead.
correct, amid this flurry of goals Bournemouth also had one disallowed. Dominic Solanke thought he had scored but VAR intervened after a handball in the build-up.
Target! Tottenham 1-1 Burnley (Poro 32)
Pedro Porro marauds forward from right-back, nobody closes him down and he shoots.
Target! Everton 1-0 Sheffield United (Ducourt 31)
In the news on the beach, Abdoulaye Doukoure has an Everton forward. Sean Dyche won manager of the month for April, which completely passed me by.
Target! Wolves 0-2 Crystal Palace (Matheta 28)
Nothing for 25 minutes, then two quick goals! Mateta reacted quickly in the box and continued his recent hot streak.
Target! Wolves 0-1 Crystal Palace (Olysée 26)
There wasn’t much going on at Molineux, that has changed.
24 minutes: In St James, Jacob Murphy has a shot from distance but Verbruggen makes an easy save.
Target! Tottenham 0-1 Burnley (Brown Larsen 25)
Well this is a shocker, Spurs split wide and Burnley lead!
23 minutes: Bad news for West Ham, it sounds like Lucas Paqueta could be out with a bang.
20 minutes: Great save from Lewis Dunk to get past Dan Byrne as the big Newcastle defender tries to get on the end of Sean Longstaff’s cross. I’m not sure what Byrne was doing there, but it was a great chance.
Target! Newcastle 0-1 Brighton (Weltmann 18)
Brighton take the lead through a very unlikely source, Billy Gilmour’s corner is good, Danny Welbeck heads it in and Joel Veltman wins his scrap in the six-yard box to set it up.
15 minutes: Bowen hits the post! Luton live dangerously with their slim advantage as they try to play from the back, a sloppy pass giving the England striker a chance who almost equalises his team.
In the Scottish Premiership, this is an advantage st johnston. They lead 1-0 at Livingston, while Ross County trail at home to Motherwell.
A couple of Scottish play-off goals to report on, Spartans extended their lead to 3-1 on aggregate at Peterhead in the Scottish League One clash, and in the Championship they edged out Alloa, who took a 3-2 lead in the tie with an early strike from Quinn Coulson.
Target! West Ham 0-1 Luton (Sambi Lokonga 6)
After that sluggish start, West Ham looked to be off the mark just yet, too, and Albert Sambi Lokonga gave the Hatters an early lead. An important goal for Luton.
5 minutes: Big save from Vicario to keep Tottenham Hotspur goalless as he denied Vitinho, but there is big news coming from east London.
5 minutes: Newcastle got the better of St James’s opening phase. Brighton have failed to get hold of the ball so far. Louis Hall won a free kick in a dangerous area on the left, he sent it in but Bart Verburgen gathered easily.
Slight delay in kick-off at London Stadium due to a faulty sprinkler flooding a small area of the pitch. That’s where we started now.
Peeeeeep!
We are underway.
Jeremy Boyce sent an email to belittling my work give some perspective:
After all, you’ve mostly spent an “at the beach” afternoon here, with little left to play for most of the main characters. The Luton-Forest situation is one exception, plus those hoping to get on Garrett’s 26-seater bus to the Euros. But there is a good one in Serie A, where Bolgna can effectively seal their Champions League place with an away win over relegated Napoli, whose 2023 Scudetto must now feel like ancient history to players and fans alike, having considering how much they fell apart this time. Arrividerci Calzona?
Highly tipped for Napoli v Bologna, I’ll be keeping an eye on that as reports come in from the sunny shores of the Premier League. At RE Napoli in particular, Calsona is their fourth coach since they won the Scudetto last year – hardly a recipe for success.
I covered some of this in my preamble, but always grateful for Simon McMahon’s fitba emails:
After Celtic effectively sealed the Scottish Premiership title by beating Rangers earlier, the focus now turns to the bottom of the SPL as already relegated Livingston host second-bottom St Johnstone. The Perth side are two points behind Ross County but can overtake them today with a win if County fail to beat Motherwell in Dingwall. It’s all to play for, as it will be when the Highlanders travel to Perth in midweek. There are also play-offs galore, with all four Scottish Championship semi-final ties and the promotion and relegation battles in League One delicately wrapped up after the first legs.
Don’t look back in anger and Noel?
It’s big for the Scottish Premiership title race, Celtic beat Rangers with 10 men at Celtic Park. Scott Murray with all the post-match reactions:
Full time at Craven Cottage, where City won 4-0. Reaction with Barry:
Some thoughts on these starting XIs, Oliver Skipp is set to play at left-back for Spurs, while James Maddison returns to the starting line-up. Emerson Royal and Rodrigo Bentancourt are out, but without Timo Werner and Richarlison, this bench looks pretty weak.
Joelinton returns to the Newcastle bench but Callum Wilson is out with Eddie Howe telling reporters the England striker is “not 100 per cent”, Elliott Anderson coming on to replace him. Kieran Trippier returns is also back in the squad along with the recently absent Miguel Almiron and Nick Pope. For Brighton, Julio Enciso starts after it was revealed on Friday that top scorer Joao Pedro had suffered an ankle injury.
For David Moyes’ farewell to the London Stadium, his West Ham side see James Ward-Prowse return with Edson Alvarez, who picked up a knock last weekend, dropping to the bench.

Watch the last half hour or so with Barry Glendenning:
Team news coming in 15 minutes, but we have coverage of a few other big games going on right now:
Preamble
Six – count ’em – SIX kick-offs from 15:00 BST in the Premier League today. A rare celebration of Saturday afternoon football in the Premier League. Most of the interest will be towards the bottom end of the table, with Burnley and Luton needing results to take their relegation battles to the final day of the season.
The Clarets need to win against Spurs and Luton as the same goes for West Ham, but both need Nottingham Forest to concede to Chelsea in Saturday’s late game. Mathematically, Rob Edwards’ men cannot be thrown out today, but their double-figure goal difference against Forest will require something very doubtful to happen on the final day if Nuno Espirito Santo’s side take all three points against the Blues.
Spurs still have an outside chance of next season’s Champions League, but only if they win and Aston Villa fail to take more than two points from their remaining games. Newcastle, who face a weak Brighton at St James’ Park, will be hoping Tottenham slip up as the Europa League remains a possibility if Eddie Howe’s side can continue their strong recent form.
The remaining games look distinctly mid-table, with Wolves taking on a resurgent Crystal Palace, Bournemouth welcoming Brentford to Vitality and Everton taking on already relegated Sheffield United – a fixture that even die-hards will struggle to get their hands on.
In Scotland, after today’s early start for the Old Firm, Ross County, who host Motherwell, and St Johnstone, who visit relegated Livingstone, call it quits to avoid the relegation play-offs. St Mirren’s side are still in contention for a place in the Europa League play-offs but need a positive result at home to Kilmarnock, the team one place above them, to keep that dream alive.
I’ll also be following the second legs of the Scottish Championship and League One play-offs this afternoon.
