Jurors unanimously found Trump guilty of all 34 counts, making him the first former US president to be convicted of a felony.
The trial involved allegations that Trump falsified business records to cover up secret payments of money to Stormy Daniels, the adult film actress who said she had sex with the married Trump in 2006.
Trump, who has pleaded not guilty and denied having an affair with Daniels, did not testify at the trial, but outside the courthouse repeatedly claimed the case was “rigged,” allegations he repeated after the sentencing today.
”This was a rigged decision from day one with an embattled judge who should never have been allowed to hear this case,” Trump said.
He said the “real verdict” will come on November 5, the date of the upcoming US presidential election, for which Trump is the presumptive Republican candidate.
He claims without evidence that the case is politically motivated.
“This was done by the Biden administration to hurt or injure an opponent, a political opponent,” Trump said.
He said he was a “very innocent man” who had “done nothing wrong”.
As he has done in previous remarks outside the courtroom, Trump mixed the court case with his presidential ambitions, vowing to “keep fighting.”
“We will keep fighting, we will fight to the end and we will win because our country has gone to hell,” he said.
“We don’t have the same country anymore, we have a divided mess.”

Trump’s legal team, which sought an acquittal after the verdict, indicated it would appeal the outcome.
A sentencing date is set for July 11.
